Galatians 6:9-18 Closing Comments CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO

In Gal 6:9-18, Paul closes his letter to the Galatians with some very sound advice.  He tells them to:

Be not weary in well doing – in due season we shall reap if we faint not – v.9 – they were probably getting worn out with the men who were trying to subvert them into going back under the law.

Do good unto all men – v.10 – which is what we ought to do as opportunity arises – it’s a great testimony for the Lord and an opportunity to give the gospel

See how large a letter he had written with his own hands – v.11 – this is an indication that his handwriting was large due to bad eye sight – he typically dictated his letters – compared to the letters to the Corinthians, Galatians is not a large letter – but it is a large letter for him to write with his own hands.

Not get circumcised – v.12-15 – because the ones who are recommending that they keep this part of the law are not keeping the law themselves and their motive for preaching circumcision is to avoid the persecution of the cross, the reproach someone bears for simply believing in the finished work of Jesus Christ at Calvary.

Walk according to this rule – v.16-18 – this rule would keep the legalistic Jews from perverting their faith in God – he reminded the Galatians of the marks in his own body received for preaching the liberty that we have in Christ and for opposing the ordinances in the law – he had paid a price for his faith and he was done arguing about it.
